Lockdown has been getting to us all I know and as a Chef I feel my peers and I have been hit particularly hard. To date, only 2.6% of all positive Covid-19 test results have originated from the hospitality sector (be that a coffee shop, a food stall, pub, bar, restaurant, B&B or hotel) yet still along with the Arts we have been hit the hardest of all.
When going from working 16 hours a day to zero hours for months on end and from being shut down, to reopening only to the be closed again it has been incredibly sad to see the impact this yo-yoing has had on us all, particularly when it comes to mental health.
I admit I myself have struggled and felt very down since all this kicked off and in particular when lockdown 3.0 came about knowing how busy I would normally have been during the festive season. I felt down and sluggish and momentarily felt I’d really lost my purpose. Anyway having had a few strong words with myself and with Chinese New Year being a time to set affirmations I’ve decided that despite Covid-19 I’m getting back in the kitchen for my own sanity and delivering you great food to help your sanity after yet another week of lockdown Groundhog Day!
Each Sunday I will be releasing a new three course menu each week for delivery the upcomi Saturday afternoon. The menus (and prices) will vary each week from comfort classics to the totally unique and will draw from my experiences working in some of the best restaurants across London (Dorchester Grill, André Garrett, Elystan Street and Tom Aiken’s). I will be using the best of British ingredients as am a firm believer that quality produce is everything. The dishes will be 90% ready so all you need do is follow the clear cooking instructions which will be provided and relax whilst tucking into a restaurant quality meal in the comfort of your home.
